Not too familiar with the moldy oldies. But a more recent film that tops (bottoms?) my list has to be Event Horizon. I have never really understood the association of horror films with scifi. But a blood-soaked gorefest masquerading as a science fiction film made me truly regret that I finished watching it.

Oh yeah, I remember that one! The first part was pretty cool, but they lost me when they went all-out with the gore. I think there are good ways to blend genres and make it work ("Alien" comes to mind) but this was not such a case. It's like they didn't even try. There's no blending. It's more like the two halves are completely different movies. Bleh. And too much gore anyway.

I could only watch the first 10 minutes! It’s pretty bad. The corny narration, the flat and monotone dialog, the “acting”… And then there’s the choppy transitions from scene to scene. It’s almost painful to watch! 🤣

Yep. The sad part is that Ed Wood was convinced he was a great director and just misunderstood by the critics. Tim Burton made a film about him that is a fascinating watch.

Until recently I would've said Batman and Robin, Superman IV, or a couple other pre-MCU superhero flicks (the Hulk one with Eric Bana, I didn't even finish). But then I saw Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist, which came out last year.

I preface this with an explanation. I'm Catholic now, but I grew up in an independent Pentecostal church, so I read the Left Behind series. It's still kind of a guilty pleasure for me, even though (with respect to those who do) I don't agree with the theology now.

I've only seen part of the original LB movie with Kirk Cameron and wasn't impressed; I actually did see the newer remake with Nicolas Cage and liked it (I know, it's Nicolas Cage, but bear with me).

They did a sequel to that remake with Kevin Sorbo. Not even Cage. Kevin. Sorbo. They had Neal McDonough and they *didn't* cast him as the Antichrist. They brought in real-world plot points (COVID?!?) and made a crapstorm of a movie that was an insult to movie fans and actual readers of the books.

I mean, it's just....words fail. It's almost dumber than Batman and Robin, and that's saying something for a film that had the Bat Credit Card.

I didn't even know that film existed, ha! I watched the Kirk Cameron one which wasn't half-bad. Been meaning to check out the Nicholas Cage remake, because, well, Nicholas Cage, need I say more? ;) But yikes, Kevin Sorbo, that doesn't bode well. I agree McDonough would have been perfect to play the Antichrist.

The Nicolas Cage one, they actually pulled off the "Rapture moment" really well, such that I was actually startled. (I think I audibly gasped in the theatre, even.) The guy they got to play the Antichrist was Bailey Chase who... once played the guy who was an associate of the first boyfriend that Buffy the Vampire Slayer had after the whole Angel deal, so. Yeah.
